Johor Darul Takzim is a beautiful state in the southern part of Peninsular Malaysia and is home to beautiful rainforests and stunning islands, such as the Rawa Island. The state’s main economic sectors are the agriculture and manufacturing sectors. Geographically, it borders the Malaysian states of Pahang, Malacca, and Negeri Sembilan. In addition, Johor is generally regarded as the gateway to neighbouring Singapore via the Causeway.
Johor has a population of approximately 3.76 million and the top three major demographics groups in Johor are Malays (53.3%), followed by Chinese (31.3%), and Indians (6.5%). It is for these citizens (or ‘rakyat’) of Johor that the Rumah Impian Bangsa Johor scheme was launched – to provide an opportunity across all layers of society in Johor to own a property, which remains an important milestone in a person’s lifetime.
As of the second quarter of 2020, theNational Property Information Centre (NAPIC) reports that the average house price in Johor stands at RM 358,961. Although this figure is lower than the national average which stands at RM 427,882, the state of Johor still sits in the top six states with the highest average house prices in the nation of Malaysia, after Kuala Lumpur (RM 783, 958), Selangor (RM 484, 837), Sarawak (RM 468, 494), Sabah (RM 456, 135), and Penang (RM 438, 768).
Given the above statistics the RBIJ scheme is timely and can be a lifeline of hope for many, especially for Johorians with a dream to own a property they can call home in their home state of Johor. This is certainly in line with the literal meaning of the program’s name, Rumah Impian Bangsa Johor, which translates to the ‘dream home of Johorians’.
